Verbing Somebody
I think this is probably a mystery movie because why in the name of the goo-goo baby Christ in the manger would you have a movie about gambling and hookers and call it Finding Amanda.
Finding Amanda is about a despicable, puffy hack sitcom writer whose wife leaves him because on top of being despicable and puffy, he’s a gambling addict who lies to her about it. So in an attempt to win his wife back he goes to Las Vegas to take his hooker niece to rehab, promising his wife that he won’t gamble. Then he gambles. Ha
The studio really wants you to know that this is a true story about the guy who wrote and directed it and so now there are too many mysteries to count, like why is this guy telling anybody, why Matthew Broderick, and if you’re going to tell everybody what a jerk you are why not make it good.
I was going to say something about how this proves that life is never as funny or interesting as the movies, but I can’t stop looking at Matthew Broderick in that sportcoat! Which is the best thing since Einstein/Wahlberg.
Rated R because if you are looking at a cute 22-year-old hooker and then 46-year-old Matthew Broderick walks on screen you might sprain something in your penis area.
